Minrui Yang is an illustrator based in Auckland, New Zealand. She was born in China and moved to NZ when she was six. From a very young age her curiosity and love towards children's books and the publishing world grew steadily as she wrote and illustrated many personal works as a child. She graduated in Elam School of Fine Arts with a BFA(Hons) in 2020.

Minrui was the winner of the Margaret Mahy Illustration prize in 2021 and her first illustrated book 'There's a King in the Cupboard' was published in 2022. She then went on to illustrate two more books, with one to be published in April 2024 titled 'Let Me Be Frank' written by Jessica Urlichs.
